Probate
We advise everyone to execute a comprehensive estate plan prior to death, but unfortunately and all too often, a deceased's assets must be addressed in a probate hearing prior to distribution. The process is lengthy and expensive.
Missouri and Kansas laws require probate proceedings when an individual dies intestate (meaning without a will or trust) or when an individual leaves a will. So, why execute a will when it must be probated? A will can eliminate many of the issues that arise when the deceased leaves no written specifications about their asset distribution. Contact our experienced attorneys if you have lost a loved one, who you believe left a will or no will at all. We will discuss the probate process with you and help you define expectations. Please remember, you must open a probate estate within a limited time after an individual's death, so do not delay!
